Congratulations! You are about to install one of the handiest programs
ever written for home use. WINDOW SHOPPER is the logical evolution of
SHOPPER'S ASSISTANT, a popular grocery shopping program for DOS.
WINDOW SHOPPER was written in response to numerous request from registered
users of SHOPPER'S ASSISTANT for a Windows (tm) version of their favorite
program.
The diskette or archive should contain these files:
README.1ST The file you are reading now.
WSHOPDOC.WRI The 14 page documentation file for WINDOW SHOPPER. It is in
Windows Write format so that we could include some actual
screen pictures and dress it up with some attractive print
formatting. It uses the Times New Roman and Arial fonts
from the Windows 3.1 TrueType collection. Please print or
view this file using Windows Write. Don't let the 440K+
size intimidate you. It really is only 14 pages!
WSHOPPER.EXE The executable file for WINDOW SHOPPER.
SHOPPER.HLP The on-line help file for WINDOW SHOPPER.
VBRUN100.DLL The Microsoft Visual Basic run-time support file used by
all Visual Basic programs. If you already have this file
you do not need another copy.
Installing WINDOW SHOPPER:
1. Make a subdirectory for the files used by WINDOW SHOPPER.
2. Copy the entire contents of the archive or diskette to that
directory.
3. Make sure that you have VBRUN100.DLL in a directory named in a PATH
statement. Most people leave it in the C:\WINDOWS directory.
4. From Windows Program Manager, make the group you want to install
WINDOW SHOPPER in the current group and select File/New.
5. Indicate that you want to add a program item.
6. Type WINDOW SHOPPER as the description.
Type WSHOPPER.EXE as the executable file name.
Type the name of the directory created in step one as the working
directory.
7. Activate Windows Write to read and/or print WSHOPDOC.WRI for the
full instructions on using WINDOW SHOPPER.
Step 6 assumes you are using Windows 3.1. If you are using 3.0, then
give the full pathname to the executable file, i.e. C:\SHOPPER\WHSOPPER.EXE
WINDOW SHOPPER contains its own icon, so you do not need to search for one.
The last page of the WSHOPDOC.WRI file is the registration form for the
program. Please use it when you register to make sure we have all the
information we need to fill your order.
If you have any difficulty installing or using WINDOW SHOPPER, or have
other comments, suggestions or questions, please contact the author:

LAST MINUTE CHANGES AND ADDITIONS!
After the documentation was completed, we added several minor ease-of-use
features that you should know about. The Item and Map maintenance screens
start up with the "Add" button as default (selected if you press ENTER).
As soon as you select an item or product category from the scrolling list
in the upper-right of the window, the "Change" and "Delete" buttons become
active and the Change button becomes the default.
Also, each command button has an underscored letter. You may press the ALT
key and that letter to execute that command without usign the mouse or
tabbing to that control. I.e. Alt+D for Delete, Alt+C for Change, etc.
A timesaver when using the scrolling lists is to type the first letter of
the entry you seek. The list will jump to the first entry beginning with
that letter. In Item Maintenance, you may scroll the Category list without
actually opening the pull-down window. Just use the Up and Down arrow keys.
All of these changes were made for the convenience of those who do not have
or do not like to use a mouse. (Our household is evenly divided between
mouse-lovers and mouse-haters, so we try to keep both camps happy!)
